Our Mission
Home Tuition Scotland’s mission is to support independent learning for FE/HE students through the provision of dedicated, expert Tutors and Learning Support Workers.
We are an educational agency with a difference - our Director has worked in the education, equality, and human rights field for over 25 years and is a qualified SpLD tutor.
Our staff team offers 61 years’ experience working in tertiary education and disabilities. As a result, HTS provides a service that prioritises students over profits.
We are focused on providing a transformative service for the students and clients we are lucky enough to work with.

Roddy McNulty is Director of Home Tuition Scotland. Roddy qualified with distinction as a SpLD specialist with Dyslexia Action in 2018.

HTS ranking first of six competitive tendering agencies for general non-medical help and first of nine for ASC mentor provision lots in Public Tender Award for Edinburgh College, 2019-2021
Supporting 1000s of disabled and ASN students at Scotland’s FE Colleges and Universities since 2012
Providing teacher recruitment to over a third of Scotland’s ASN, junior and senior independent schools since 2010
Developing expert learning resources purchased by the Scottish Government Learning Directorate, distributed to every primary, secondary and ASN school in Scotland

Caroline Leburn has been HTS General Manager since autumn 2022. Caroline has specialised in education professional services throughout her career.
Including a decade in various roles at the University of Edinburgh, Caroline has also worked at North East Scotland College, Birmingham City University, the Scottish Funding Council and the Scottish Government.
Following direct experience of her daughter’s struggles with spelling and writing tasks during Covid home-learning, Caroline investigated the possibility of dyslexia and this was subsequently confirmed through formal assessment. This neurodiversity affects all aspects of life, not just at school, and Caroline is constantly looking to further develop her knowledge and understanding of Additional Support Needs.

Emma Austin has been HTS Finance Administrator since November 2020. Qualified AAT Accounting Technician, Emma was previously a member of the accounts team at the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, Penzance. A move to Edinburgh led Emma to HTS.
With extensive knowledge of high functioning adult autism and early years epilepsy, the services provided by HTS attracted Emma to the role - "I think it's amazing that I can work for an organisation that actually supports and improves lives".
Prior to taking the accounting pathway, Emma's background was in sports development, also a qualified tennis coach, she held county and regional development manager roles for the Lawn Tennis Association and Badminton England - a key area of this work was engaging and working with colleges and universities to develop better opportunities for students and players with disabilities, either through playing or leadership and coaching opportunities, or developing and improving facilities.

Shirley worked in the Business School at Edinburgh Napier University for 16 years in an administrative role supporting academic staff and students.
She then worked in the office of a private care at home company for five years, dealing with the daily changes and challenges in social care.
Shirley joined HTS in the summer of 2022 and her educational background and experience in social care was a perfect mix for the role of Learning Support Co-ordinator and Administrator at HTS.

Natalie Bruce has been the HR and Student Support Coordinator at Home Tuition Scotland since 2021.
Natalie began her career in education as a primary teacher before moving into student support and administration. She held a variety of roles within a further education college in London, including Student Support Officer and Exams Coordinator before returning to Scotland and joining HTS.
Natalie is committed to ensuring the students and their individual needs are the focus and priority when organising their support.
